"Safar" between Ahmad Akl's Calligraphy and Ramzi Azzam's Poetry At Beirut Arab University
10 May 2012
Beirut Arab University hosted "Safar" Exhibition for the Artist Ahmad Akl brought together with the Poet Ramzi Azzam in an evening at the Cultural Forum “Al Moltaqa Hall” at Beirut Arab University- Beirut Premises on the 10th of May 2012.
"Safar" Exhibition included 17 paintings from the Calligraphy School of Arts. Those paintings reflected Arabic calligraphy in a wonderful combination of colors, letters, points, and scenes. Perfect harmony was reached when Ramzi Azzam recited a collection of modern poems from his book "Al Holom", and a number of other poems that simulate themes related to travelling, namely ambitions, dreams, the beloved, and beauty, and at the same time pose topics from daily life.
Professor Amr Galal El-Adawi, President of BAU, opened the exhibition in the presence of Mr. Issam Houry, Secretary- General, Deans of Faculties, Faculty Members; Mrs. Zina Ariss, Director of Public Relations Administration; Directors of departments; and a crowd of interested people.
Professor El-Adawi expressed his admiration of civilized blending between calligraphy and poetry. He emphasized the role that the Arabic language and poetry have played in spreading the Arab civilization over the years. He also praised the role the university played to disseminate not only education but also culture in the face of cultural invasion.
