- Applicants must hold the official Lebanese Secondary School Certificate or its official equivalent.
- Applicants are required to sit for the admission exam relevant to their chosen program at BAU.

- Holders of the Lebanese Secondary School Certificate (General Sciences, Life Sciences, and Sociology–Economics) may apply to all majors in the sophomore class.
- Holders of the Sociology–Economics Certificate must take additional courses if accepted into the Faculties of Engineering, Science, Health Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, the Architecture program, or the Science and Mathematics Concentration of the Elementary Education program.
- Holders of the Literature and Humanities Certificate may apply to the programs of Law, Business Administration, Health Sciences, Psychology, Mass Communication, Design, and all Education programs (except the Science and Mathematics Concentration for Elementary Education). They are also required to take additional courses if accepted into the Faculties of Health Sciences or Business Administration.
- Applicants holding a non-Lebanese Secondary School Certificate (French Baccalaureate, official government secondary school leaving certificate from Arab countries, full IB diploma, or IGCSE/GCE — 3 A levels or 6 AS levels in addition to 6 O levels, excluding second languages and Physical Education) must obtain an Equivalence of the Lebanese Secondary School Certificate from the Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

To help prospective students prepare for the admission exams, we have compiled the required chapters from the Lebanese high school curriculum. These materials cover essential topics from Grades 10, 11, and 12 and reflect the knowledge expected for a successful performance on the admission exams.
Please note that the admission exam will be administered in a Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) format. The Engineering admission exam consists of 100 questions. The Medical Programs admission exam consists of 90 questions, divided into 70 common questions and 20 program-oriented questions.
The links below provide the study material required for applicants to the Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacyand Health Sciences programs. Kindly review the chapters carefully to ensure proper preparation.
All programs at the University are taught in English, except for Law, Mass Communication, and Psychology, which are delivered in Arabic. The Education programs are offered in both Arabic and English. Therefore, undergraduate applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in English by achieving the minimum required score on one of the approved English language exams listed below:

BAU English Language Admission Exam (administered at BAU) |

The BAU English Language Admission Exam is one of the officially approved tests for admission.
Applicants who do not pass the BAU English Language Admission Exam are required to enroll in intensive English courses offered at the University.
Applicants to the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy must pass the BAU English Language Admission Exam with only one Intensive English course; otherwise, they will not be considered for admission.
Applicants who have successfully completed the IGCSE/GCE program are exempted from the BAU English Language Admission Exam.
When registering, applicants should use the following BAU codes: 7373 for the SAT and B516 for the TOEFL iBT. Scores must be sent directly by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to the Admissions Office: admission@bau.edu.lb
Department of English Language and Literature

Department of Mass Communication

Admission Requirements for Architecture
ARCHITECT’S PROSPECT
An architect is someone who is trained to design buildings. This requires imagination, inventiveness, and aesthetic sensitivity informed by historical precedent. It also demands an understanding of social needs, economic factors, production and procurement systems, natural and environmental sciences, technology, and information handling techniques – an almost unlimited range of factors act upon the architect, requiring an appropriate broad repertoire of skills and techniques. But central to this activity is the design process itself, a blend of logical thinking, creativity judgment, acquired through practice and experience.
EVALUATION CRITERIA OF CANDIDATE STUDENTS
The careful selection of students is central to the educational mission of the Faculty of Architecture – Design and Built Environment and to the continued quality of program in architecture. Students are selected based on the highest grades scored for their good design and drawing skills; strong imagination and the ability to think and create in three dimensions; sound analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail; and a keen interest in buildings and the built environment.
REQUIRED ADMISSION EXAMS
A. English Exam
Undergraduate applicants should show a level of proficiency in the English language by obtaining a minimum score on one of the approved English language exams.
B. Written and Drafting Exam
The aim of the written and drafting exam is to assess students for their:
- General, Art and Architectural knowledge (i.e. historic civilizations, socio-cultural concerns, art, environmental issues, Building types and Architectural styles, Methods and materials of Construction, architecture and art movements, etc.).
- Ability of Spatial Reasoning and Projection skills.
- Ability of inductive reasoning through observation, perception, and critical thinking.
- Freehand drawing skills to draw sketches of natural or man-made object / element using pencil.
- Creativity skills and ability to translate innovative ideas into drawings.
The written and drafting exam is dived in 5 different parts as follows:
- Part (I) General Knowledge
- Part (II) Spatial Reasoning
- Part (III) Inductive Reasoning
- Part (IV) Freehand Drawing Skills
- Part (V) Creativity Skills

C. Oral Exam
The aim of the oral exam or interview is to testify Applicant’s communication skills, and the ability to interact and negotiate effectively with professionals. Applicant is expected to answer questions in related to general knowledge, architectural topics, and art studies.
D. Portfolio
Applicant should submit to the oral exam committee an Admission Portfolio including the following:

Admission Requirements for Fashion Design-Interior Design-Graphic Design
All applicants of the design programs are required to attend an Oral Exam / Interview and submit a portfolio along with the university required application materials to the Interview Committee.
A. Oral Exam (Grade Proportion 40%)
The aim of the oral exam or interview is to testify applicant’s communication skills, and the ability to interact and negotiate effectively with professionals. Applicant is expected to answer questions pertinent to general knowledge, related topics, and art studies.
B. Portfolio (Grade Proportion 60%)
Part 1: Applicant Resume including:
- Personal Information
- Previous Educational Levels (School Name – Degree)
- Hobbies and Skills
- Engagement in Social Activities (if applicable)
- Internal and Overseas Trips (if applicable)
Part 2: Written Expression of Interest:
Applicant is required to submit an essay (200 to 300 words) describing his /her interests, knowledge, and reasons for applying to the desired design program (Interior, Graphic, or Fashion Design).
The submitted essay is expected to be prepared based on deep research related to the current issues in the design profession, successful projects, styles, designers, or other influences.
Part 3: DRAWING
Color still life study demonstrating applicant’s ability to draw, color, and generate composition
Applicant is required to group everyday objects such as books, fruit, small appliances, or pottery made of different materials for example, plastic, wood, stone, glass, drapery. Objects should be arranged together to form an interesting composition.
Submitted Materials:
- Three photos of the above-mentioned composition taken from three different points of view (front, side and top)
- Sketch of your composition using a 2B pencil
- Sketch of your composition using color such as color pencils or chalk pastel
Both drawings should be on white A3 size paper (29.7 cm x 42.0 cm).
Drawings should be created from looking at actual objects, not from imagination or from a photo. They must be hand drawn and not computer generated.
Submissions are reviewed specifically to assess the applicant’s ability to draw realistic perspectives while respecting proportions, textures as well as shades and shadows.
Part 4: Examples of Visual and Creative Work
This part should include examples of the visual art prepared by the applicant including drawings from direct observation and/or imagination, digital design, sculptures, jewelry, paintings, ceramics, and fashion. The elements submitted in this part may not be related to the applicant desired program. they should show his/her strongest skills and work.
Notes:
- Applicant, who includes in his/her portfolios, work done by others will be disqualified.
- All submitted materials should clearly bear the applicant's name and the name of the program to which he / she is applying.

Acceptance for all programs at the Faculty of Engineering is based on passing the admission exam that consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in Thinking Skills, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Acceptance to the Faculty of Science requires only sitting the English Proficiency Test or submitting its equivalent with the required score.
Acceptance in this major is based on passing the admission exam that consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in Thinking Skills, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
A personal interview will also be conducted to determine the student's potential qualification for the pharmacy major. It will cover aspects such as personal attributes, motivation, general knowledge, career oriented goals, and behavior-based issues, in addition to general knowledge of the pharmacy profession.
Acceptance in this major is based on passing the admission exam that consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in Thinking Skills, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
In respond to the TEPDAD report, The Faculty of Medicine had adopted a Mutli mini-interview system for new applicants.
Acceptance in this major is based on passing the admission exam that consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in Thinking Skills, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
A personal interview will also be conducted to determine the student's potential qualification for the dentistry major. It will cover aspects such as personal attributes, motivation, general knowledge, career-oriented goals, and behavior-based issues, in addition to general knowledge of the dentistry profession.
Acceptance in the four different majors at the Faculty of Health Sciences (Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Medical Laboratory Technology and Physical Therapy) is based on passing the admission exam that consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in Thinking Skills, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
A personal interview will also be conducted to determine the student's potential qualification for these majors. It will cover aspects of personal attributes, motivation, general knowledge, career oriented goals, and behavior-based issues, in addition to general knowledge of the respective profession.
Freshman
The Freshman Program is designed for all students, Lebanese or Non-Lebanese, who hold a high school certificate following a Non Lebanese Baccalaureate Program based on 12 years of schooling starting with Grade One.
To apply for freshman, applicants are asked to submit the following required documents:
- High school diploma or Secondary School Certificate based on 12 years of school starting with Elementary 1 class.
- Official school records of Grades 10 and 11.
- Permission issued from the Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education & Higher Education allowing students to join the Freshman class.
- SAT Reasoning Test (SAT I) scores.
- A photocopy of the Single Civil Status Record (for Lebanese applicants only).
- A photocopy of the identity card or the passport (for non-Lebanese applicants only).
- A recent passport-size photo.

The Freshman Program is designed for all students, Lebanese or Non-Lebanese, who hold a high school certificate following a Non Lebanese Baccalaureate Program based on 12 years of schooling starting with Grade One.
Freshman at BAU consists of 30 credits (2 semesters) and students could apply for either Freshman Sciences or Freshman Arts. During the freshman year, they should pass the BAU Admissions Exams of their chosen major(s) in order to join the sophomore class.
The Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education requires applicants to the freshman class to take the SAT I. The total score must be at least 950 for the sciences track and at least 870 for the arts track.
Freshman students who have completed 30 credits with a minimum CGPA 2, have to submit the relevant certificates to the Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education & Higher Education. This is required in order to get the equivalence of the Lebanese Secondary School Certificate; otherwise, they will not be able to join the sophomore class.
Important Notes
- Freshman Sciences students may apply to all majors at BAU in the sophomore level.
- Freshman Arts students may apply to the faculties of Human Sciences, Law & Political Science, Business Administration, Architecture – Design and Built Environment and Health Sciences in the sophomore level. They are asked to take additional courses if accepted to the faculties of Health Sciences and Business Administration.
