A Concert at BAU Tripoli Branch

The Public Relations Department at Beirut Arab University- Tripoli Campus organized the first concert of the “Sheyoukh El Tarab Band”, conducted by Artist Houssam Halawani. The band played a set of Aleppine and Andalusian songs. The event that was held on the 31st of October 2015, was attended by HE Dr. Sami Monkara, President of Manar University, Mr. Adel El Helou, representing HE Faysal Karami, Prof. Khaled Baghdady, BAU Vice-President for Tripoli Branch Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Hammoud, Deputy Secretary General for Tripoli Branch Affairs, and Mr. Ahmad Sankari, Coordinator of the Branch.
The event opened with the National and the BAU anthems, followed by a speech by Nala Makouk, PR Coordinator at the Branch. who welcomed the guests, and highlighted that the University is keen on organizing cultural, artistic and scientific events that enrich our communities with knowledge in various fields. She added that the Band, which has ever so often brought Aleppo to life with its concerts, takes us back to the good old days, when Arab and Andalusian cultures mixed. 
The event closed with a number of songs of the late Um Kalthoum.
