Agreement between ICRC and Faculty of Health Sciences at BAU

Agreement between ICRC and Faculty of Health Sciences at BAU

01 April 2017

A cooperative research agreement was signed between BAU and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This agreement includes examining the effect of virtual reality therapy on war-incurred lower-extremity amputees. This study will be conducted on 60 people.
The ICRC’s role is to fully fund the project, including the provision of state-of-the-art therapeutic devices for the virtual reality treatment in three therapeutic outlets in Tripoli, Bekaa and the Physiotherapy Clinics at the Faculty of Health Sciences. Moreover, the ICRC pledges to secure the subjects of the study.
BAU, in turn, undertakes to establish the research bases and the therapeutic program to be followed, evaluate the cases of all participants (in Beirut, Tripoli and Bekaa), and conduct training courses for all physiotherapists who will follow up on the patients outside Beirut.
Finally, the agreement includes publishing the outcomes of the study in international scientific journals on behalf of both parties.
