Assistant Professor Jamilah Borjac awarded a USA Competitive Grant

The Faculty of Science at Beirut Arab University proudly announces that Assistant Professor Jamilah Borjac from the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences received a highly competitive grant sponsored by “Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER) program” with USAID for the maximum amount of $160,000 for her Project: “Hazardous Effect of Pollutants in Deir Kanoun Dump on the Syrian Refugees and the Lebanese People”. 
This award was one of only 47 selected proposals that were chosen from 666 proposals received by PEER. Her proposal was among the strongest in the excellence group of proposals received whereby it addressed health effects due to exposure to pollutants dumps.
President of Beirut Arab University Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi congratulated Dr. Borjac for receiving such a high achievement that reflects the quality of research done at Beirut Arab University. 
Dr. Borjac is the only principle investigator. She will be working with professor Diane Blake, her US partner at Tulane University.
