Prof. Adawi: International Institutional Accreditation Creates Pride and Trust in the University and Accumulates Responsibilities

This year Beirut Arab University’s Annual Commencement was dominated by the FIBAA Institutional Accreditation, giving the event two main themes this year: the first is the graduation of the 52nd class; and the second is highlighting the cutting-edge that the University has acquired through attaining this valuable Institutional Accreditation.
The event was held in BAU- Debbieh Premises, and was attended by a large crowd of politicians, military personnel, Heads of Syndicates, diplomats, university presidents and Heads of Municipalities. It was also attended by MP Minister Dr. Michel Moussa, representing HE Mr. Nabih Berreh and HE Mr. Tammam Salam; MP Dr. Ammar Houri, representing HE Mr. Fouad Seniora; MP Dr. Mohammed Hajjar, representing HE Mr. Saad Hariri; in addition to the University community and the graduates’ families.
The event opened with the entry of the Graduates’ Procession, including 1504 Graduates from 10 faculties. After the Lebanese National Anthem and the BAU Anthem were played, and a short Quranic recitation by Sheikh Mohamed El Saleh, Ms. Zina Ariss, Director of the Public Relations Administration gave a welcoming speech. She described the graduates as stars with noble ethics and empowered with knowledge and culture, shining in space. They are thus the best ambassadors for an institution that has

sought to realize dreams in the Lebanese, the Regional and the International Communities.
The graduates’ speech was delivered by Mohieddine Hamish, graduate of the Mass Communication Department. In his speech he recalled the years of study at BAU, describing the conclusion of these four years as yet another example of the dedication of the staff-members. Addressing himself to the staff-members and deans he said, “You have sowed, and we have harvested. It is now our turn to sow.”
In his speech, Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi described the event as two-fold, and as a decisive moment in the University’s life, since BAU has attained the FIBAA Institutional Accreditation. He stated that this achievement creates pride and trust in the University and accumulates further responsibilities.
This was followed by the distribution of the certificates by the President and the Deans. The event concluded with the Graduation Oath.
