BAU Human Rights Center Participates in the Human Rights Moot Court Competition Held in Jordan
18 December 2014The Human Rights Center at Beirut Arab University participated in the Human Rights Moot Court Competition held at the Jordanian University in Amman through the students from the Faculty of Law and Political Science. The students were: Huda Mallah, Karen Jebali, Ali Dika, and Ammar Jabi. The competition was organized by the Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights in collaboration with the Arab Academic Network for Human Rights. The Defense Team, consisting of Karen Jebali and Ali Dika, won the prize of Best Team and Best Written Argumentation, in addition to the prize of third Best Oral Argumentation which was won by Ali Dika.
The competition aims to provide stakeholders in the justice sector and law students with the knowledge and tools necessary for the implementation and advocacy of human rights standards in judicial procedures. It also aims at promoting legal education in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
The training was supervised by Judge Tarek Tarabeih and Dr. Tarteel Darwiche. The competition was attended by teams from the Jordanian University, Birzeit University in Palestine, Al Hassan II University in Morocco and Algeria University.
