BAU Signs Cooperation Agreements with the Hospitals of Najjar, Notre Dame du Liban Hospital and Reyak
05 November 2012Beirut Arab University concluded three cooperation agreements with the Hospitals of Najjar, Notre Dame du Liban Hospital and Reyak in Bekaa, at a meeting held at BAU in Beirut. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Amr Galal El Adawi, President of BAU, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Khedr, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Mr. Issam Houri, Secretary General of BAU, Mr. Mohammad Hammoud, Deputy Secretary General for Students’ Affairs, as well as the representatives of the three hospitals, Mr. Ghazi Najar, General Director of Najjar Hospital, Dr. Fawzi Odaimi, Director of Notre Dame du Liban Hospital, and Dr. Mohamed Hamad Abdallah, Chairperson of the Board and General Director of Reyak Hospital.
The agreements stipulate both the medical and academic cooperation in the teaching and training of students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The aim is to enhance students’ clinical skills, in addition to the monitoring of teaching courses and programs set by the Faculty of Medicine and by the educational committees at the three hospitals.
Prof. Dr. Amr Al Adawi, President of BAU hailed the three agreements, highlighting the expertise and diversity of fields that will positively impact upon student training. Prof. Adawi stressed on the importance of the interrelatedness between the academic and the practical domains in the training of a fully-qualified physician. He expressed his hopes that these agreements will be conducive to the promotion of scientific research.
In turn, Prof. Mohamed Khedr, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, spoke of the significance that the signing of these agreements coincides with the Faculty’s endeavours to attain forthcoming international accreditation.
Mr. Issam Houri, Secretary General of BAU, expressed his hopes that the cooperation with the three hospitals be successful, and that the three agreements be a step towards further development and progress.
