Colorful Steps – An Exhibition by Hany Baioun at BAU

18 May 2016

The Public Relations Administration at Beirut Arab University organized an exhibition entitled “Colorful Steps” for the Artist Hany Baaioun. The event was attended by a large crowd of artists and visitors, with the participation of Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi, President of BAU, staff-members and students.
The exhibition displayed a large number of paintings of celebrities, which revealed new details of the faces painted through a wonderful range of colors and reflections. The exhibition also included caricatures and a large group of sea rocks covered with interwoven paintings that combine Arabic calligraphy with faces from the Arab and Ottoman heritage in exquisite detail.
The exhibition opened with the Lebanese National Anthem and the BAU Anthem, and was introduced by Omar Farouk El Nakhal, who described viewing Baaioun’s works as a form of meeting reality in its clearest colors. Contemplating these paintings is like journeying into the aesthetics of the simplicity that weaves the painting with the warmth of a sweater, covering the silence of rocks with the whispers of the sea towards patient shores.
In his word, Prof. Amr El Adawi, President of the University, praised the works of Baaioun, emphasizing that the University lives a renewed spring through the flow of artistic and creative works. He pointed out that the University is not just a place for learning, but also an aesthetic oasis that invites the students to benefit from such activities and sharpen their artistic sensation, needed to complement their academic study.
In turn, Baaioun thanked the administration for hosting the exhibition, expressing his happiness at organizing it on the campus of the university where he teaches. He explained that the exhibition represents phases of our lives, where each color reflects a memory of places and times.
