International Accreditation of the Physiotherapy Program at BAU

25 September 2016

The Faculty of Health Sciences at Beirut Arab University attained international accreditation by the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT) of the Physiotherapy program. The celebration was held on campus in Beirut, and was attended by Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi and the deans, in addition to the WCPT Delegation which consisted of a number of academics. What is worth to be mentioned that Beirut Arab University is the first university to attain accreditation in the Middle East, Africa and the Mediterranean Region, which reflects the high academic and professional quality adopted at the University.
The event opened with a word by the Head of the Physiotherapy Department, Dr. Ibtissam Saab, who described the stages that the program went through towards accreditation, promising the continued pursuit of all further developments of the field.
Prof. Rajaa Fakhoury, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, pointed out that the program has attained world standards in a very short period of time because of the efforts exerted by the staff-members and the team at the Faculty.
Prof. Amr El Adawi, President of BAU, expressed his gratitude to the WCPT for the accreditation, calling upon the Faculty to intensify their effort to achieve further successes and excellence.
This was followed by a word by Dr. John Xerri de Caro, in which the WCPT representative described BAU as worthy of such accreditation, in particular in the light of the scientific leadership and excellence of the Physiotherapy program. He concluded his speech by presenting the Accreditation Certificate to the BAU President Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi, followed by brief presentations of the deans of the medical faculties – Prof. Essam Osman, Prof. Naglaa Mashaal and Prof. Abdallah Lakani – to summarize the achievements at their respective faculties.
