Moonlight Exhibition at Beirut Arab University

“Moonlight” Exhibition at Beirut Arab University

20 October 2016

The vividness of colors and the flow of ideas reflected gently on the light of the moon. It is that enchanting moon that takes the mind to the realm of magic as manifested in the paintings of Dr. Mohamed Zaher. His art adopts calligraphic Quranic Verses, which he endows with mystery and magic in an exhibition entitled “Moonlight”. The exhibition was hosted by Beirut Arab University and was attended by Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi, President of BAU, Dr. Omar Houri, BAU Secretary General, as well as the deans of faculties, BAU administrators, students and a crowd of art lovers.
The exhibition hosted 47 paintings through which the artist explores the aesthetics of calligraphy and a variety of optical phenomena, reflecting how some color compositions affected him and are reflected in his love for history.
After the Lebanese National Anthem and the BAU Anthem were played, Ms. Rima Chehab spoke, elaborating on the fact that BAU is always keen on producing generations of educated youth who are stimulated to enhance their culture, since it is their main source for creating an identity and attaining excellence in the future.
Prof. Amr El Adawi expressed his happiness at the opening of the first exhibition for this year at the University, especially with Dr. Mohamed Zaher, indicating that the artist’s works tell a story and a philosophy. He also pointed out that the University helps in encouraging art among its students, inviting them to be a part of the cultural season that the University is keen on developing and expanding year after year.
