Mr Najib Mikati the Patron of the Unveiling of the Azm Building at BAU Tripoli Branch Beirut Arab University is the Dream of all Lebanese

HE Mr. Najib Mikati was the patron of the unveiling ceremony of the “Azm Building” at Beirut Arab University – Tripoli Branch for his contribution to the construction expenses. The event was held on the 27th of May, 2014 and was attended by HE Deputy Ahmed Karami, Prof. Dr. Amr Galal El Adawi, President of BAU, Mr. Issam Houri, BAU Secretary General, Prof. Dr. Khaled Baghdady, BAU Vice-President for Tripoli Branch Affairs, Mr. Ahmad Sankari, the Branch Coordinator and Head of Alumni in the North, Dr. Ahmad Sanjikdar, Administrative Director of the Branch, Mrs. Zina Ariss, Head of Public Relations Administration , in addition to a crowd of students and interested people.

The event opened with the Lebanese National Anthem and the BAU Anthem, followed by Prof. Dr. Amr Galal El Adawi’s speech. Prof. Adawi thanked HE Mikati for contributing to the expenses of constructing the “Azm Building”, pointing out that Mikati had been the first to take up the initiative of launching this educational facility which provides the North and Tripoli with educational services. Adawi recalled the early stages of establishing the Tripoli Branch, and Mikati’s keen observation of the construction works. He further indicated that BAU came to Tripoli upon the wish and request of Mikati.

Adawi maintained that BAU and its Branch in Tripoli abide by a distinct policy since the inauguration of the Branch four years ago. He then listed a number of international and institutional accreditations the University has attained, thanking everyone who supported the University and its Branch in the North. He promised the Northern Community, in particular the inhabitants of Tripoli, that the University will maintain its fine educational standards.

In turn, HE Najiib Mikati described BAU as the dream of all Lebanese, and praised the services provided by the University to the Lebanese Society. He added that Beirut Arab University has raised the educational standards to compete with the most important Local and Arab Universities. Mikati also pointed out that the dream of the University is part of Tripoli’s dream, recalling the various phases of constructing it, beginning with the acquisition of the land, attaining the permits, laying the foundation stone, through to this day that stands witness to the realization of the dream.

Mikati stated that the University is committed to fulfilling its promises, such as maintaining the fine educational standards of its various departments, faculties and programs. He expressed his hope that the University will continue to expand in the North and in Tripoli, and proceeded to thank all those who supported the University for the sake of producing promising northern generations.

At the end of the ceremony, Mikati and Adawi unveiled a plaque on which is inscribed “Azm Building”. This was followed by a tour of the buildings, departments and facilities of the Branch.
The “Azm Building” holds the Faculty of Engineering in addition to its various departments, laboratories and facilities. It is worth noting that the Tripoli Branch witnesses with the conclusion of the academic year the first Graduation Ceremony.
