Physicians Strumming the Strings of the Hearts at BAU

The Faculty of Medicine at BAU organized its annual ninth Cultural Evening entitled “Physicians Strumming the Strings of the Hearts”. The event included poetry readings, music played and sung by the physicians of the future. The aim was to transcend the traditional conception of Medical Students, to attain the image of the physician as a human, a musician and a poet.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Amr Galal El Adawi, President of BAU, Maestro Andre Hajj, the Artistic Director of Lebanese Orchestra, Musician Jihad Akel, and Poet Mahdi Mansour . The evening was also attended by faculty deans, staff-members, Ms. Zina Ariss, Director of Public Relations Administration, and a crowd of students. The audience interacted with the poetry, prose, art and music presentations of the participating students. 
Prof. Dr. Adawi described this annual tradition organized by the students of the Faculty of Medicine as a venue to show their talents that reflect an important aspect of their humanitarian profession, since the students managed to integrate dry sciences with poetry and creativity.
Prof. Dr. Naglaa Mashaal, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, pointed out that the evening coincides with the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty. She described the event as the fruition of the students’ efforts, who cooperated to present another aspect of the physician’s love of life. Through the event, the audience get to know the physician as a poet, as a composer, as an artist.
The event also included poetry readings by Mahdi Mansour, and musical performances by Jihad Akel. The President of the University presented Jihad Akel the BAU Honorary Shield in appreciation of his efforts and contributions.
