Reine Salem’s Exhibition at Beirut Arab University

Prof. Dr. Amr Galal El Adawi, President of Beirut Arab University, inaugurated the University’s Cultural Season with the opening of the Lebanese Painter Reine Salem’s Exhibition, entitled “نور ع نور”.
The exhibition held 41 paintings that merge between Modern and Islamic Art. Through her works, the painter highlighted Islamic patterns that express faith and spirituality, through which various Quranic verses emerge. The painter chose the title “نور ع نور” for the exhibition as an expression of the spiritual aspects the paintings represent.
The exhibition was opened in the Moltaqa Forum, a building on Campus in Beirut that has been dedicated to host artistic and cultural events. The Opening was attended by the President of BAU Prof. Dr. Amr Galal El Adawi, the Head of the Lawyers’ Syndicate in Beirut, Mr. George Greige, represented by Lawyer Omar Koush, BAU Secretary General Mr. Issam Houri, Deans of the Faculties, Staff-members, BAU Directors, Mrs. Zina Ariss, Head of the Public Relations Administration, in addition to a crowd of interested people.
In his welcoming speech, the Prof. El Adawi pointed out that the digital development witnessed in our days, and the youth’s tendency to use the internet and social networks, have greatly influenced their interests in Arts. In addition to its educational responsibilities, the gesture made by Beirut Arab University in hosting artists, sculptors and poets aims at enhancing the students’ culture. This is part of a higher goal, namely the stimulation of arts and culture among the younger generations.
The Artist Reine Salem, has produced hundreds of diverse art works. She has taken part in Local, Arab and International Exhibitions, and in her word, she expressed her appreciation of BAU’s efforts to promote culture and the arts.
The speeches were followed by the ribbon cutting after which the attendees viewed the various paintings exhibited. The exhibition is open till Thursday, 30th October 2014, daily from 10:00 A.M. till 6:00 P.M.
