Roudy Rahmeh at BAU
17 May 2012Roudy Rahmeh's exhibition in the Cultural Forum-Al Moltaqa Hall- at Beirut Arab University comprised 39 bronze, wooden and stone pieces of sculpture, as well as others made of gold powder.
Entitled "Pauses at the Point", the exhibition was opened on the 17th of May 2012, by Professor Amr Galal El Adawi, President of Beirut Arab University, Mr. Issam Houri, Secretary General of Beirut Arab University, Mrs. Zina Ariss, Head of the Public Relations Administration, Deans of Faculties , Staff and interested audience.
On this occasion, Rahme, the international Lebanese artist, declared his passion for the "point" and presented a poem of his own wherein he depicts "time" through a "sand clock".
Professor El Adawi, in turn, stated that BAU has always encouraged arts through "Al Moltaqa" where all artists, some of whom are young, meet. He added that Rahmeh's works comprise an added value to the art of sculpture in Lebanon and to BAU's students who will visit the exhibition during the next fifteen days. Professor El Adawi also affirmed that such exhibitions improve our students' cultural knowledge as architecture and sculpture are greatly integrated with each other. He clarified that sculpture is but turning geometric gaps into aesthetic models and referred to his experience in carrying some sculptures to a number of regions in Alexandria for aesthetic purposes.
The exhibition continues till May 31 and welcomes all visitors in Al Moltaqa within the premises of Beirut Site.
