Sixty New Specialized Doctors from BAU
05 June 2012The Faculty of Medicine celebrated the graduation of its eighth specialized doctors batch on Tuesday 05.06.2012 Jamal Abed El Naser Hall; sixty doctors who have completed their clinical training in six different university hospitals in Lebanon.
The graduates' medical specialisations varied between Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Otorhinolaryngology, Pulmonary, Intensive Care, Nephrology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Neurology, Laboratory, Radiology, Anesthesia, Neurology, Hematology and Oncology.
Beside the students' families, the ceremony was attended by Prof. Mohamed Khedr, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine representing the University President, Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi, Mr. Toufic Houri, chairman of Wakf El Bir wal Ehsan Board of Trustees, Mr. Issam Houri, Secretary General of BAU, Faculties’ Deans, Faculty members, Directors, Mrs. Zina Ariss, Head of the Public Relations Administration, Prof. Sharaf Abou Sharaf, Head of the Doctors' Syndicate in Lebanon, Mr. Amin Daouk, President of Al Makassed Philanthropic Association, in addition to representatives and directors of Hammoud, Makassed, Al Sahel, Dar El Ajazah Al Islamiah, Al Zahraa and Rafik Al Hariri University hospitals.
The ceremony started with the National and the University anthems followed by the graduates' speech which was delivered by Dr. Ghida El Baba. In his speech, Prof. Sharaf Abou Sharaf reminded the audience of the life-time medical insurance complementary project submitted by the Subsidy and Insurance Fund in the Syndicate. Also, he spoke of the unified medical prescription to be put into action by the end of summer 2012 in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Pharmacists' Syndicate, National Social Security Fund and Government Employees Cooperation.
In his turn, Professor Mohamed Khedr advised the graduates to abide to the physicians' ethics and hinted to the cooperation between the University and the hospitals as a step towards the development of the training system and the scientific research within the framework of the syndicate's rules and regulations.
Dr. Ahmad Zaatari, representing Dr. Ghassan Hammoud, Director of Hammoud Hospital, pointed out that the Hospital's and BAU's common vision helped to adapt the programs to the swift development in the domain of medicine. On the other hand, Dr. Nabil Daoud, representing Dr. Anas Mougharbel, Head of the Medical Body at Makassed General Hospital, referred to the cooperation between both institutions as related to medical research as well as Orthopedics and Urology.
Moreover, Dr. Waleed Alameh, Director of Al Sahel Hospital, praised the performance of the Faculty of Medicine, and anticipated that BAU will be granted an international status soon. Furthermore, Mr. Azzam Houri, Director of Dar El Ajazah al Islamiah, announced the future cooperation between the hospital and the Faculty of Medicine as related to the establishment of the Department of Geriatrics Medicine.
In his speech, Dr. Wassim Al-Wazzan, Chairman of Rafik Al Hariri University Hospital, alluded to a fruitful future cooperation with BAU, whereas Mr. Shawki Noaman, representing Mr. Mohammad Shaito, Director of Al-Zahraa Hospital, talked about the capabilities and the equipment offered by the hospital to the trainee doctors.
At the end of the ceremony, the certificates were distributed to the graduates.
