The Conclusion of the North Lebanon Startup Weekend At BAU

The Centre for Entrepreneurship (CFE) at BAU concluded the North Lebanon Startup Weekend Competition that was held at Tripoli Campus on the 28th of April, 2013 with a short film prepared by the BAU Media Center. The film included a summary of the 54 hours spent by the students at the competition in Campus, as well as shots taken of them as they worked on their projects. The Director of the CFE, Dr. Laila Abboud, highlighted in her speech that the aim of this competition is to enable the students of the North to create and innovate, by providing them with encouragement and the necessary opportunities to demonstrate their talents and skills.

The President of the University, Prof. Dr. Amr Galal El Adawi, spoke of the role played by BAU in offering students both the opportunities and guidance necessary to enable them to develop their skills. He thanked everyone who had contributed to the success of the competition.

The jury consisted of:
  • Mr. Abdallah Mikati, Azm & Saade Association
  • Mr. Amer Tabosh, Future TV
  • Mr. Benua Eid, Head of Small Business Credit Analysis at BLC
  • Mr. Ghassan Bejani, Consultant and Investor
  • Mr. Roget Melki, Expert and Economic Consultant
  • Mrs. Rola Moussa, Owner and CEO of Netways


The three winning projects were:
  • First Prize: $5000.- presented by Netways to the RSSWA project
  • Second Prize: $3500.- presented by BLC to the Kiosk project
  • Third Prize: $2000.- presented by Azm & Saade Association to the Smart Wheelchair project.

Mrs. Rola and Mr. Jean Moussa, owners of Netways, also announced that they will foster the implementation of another five projects.
