A Delegation from Fouad Chehab Academy for Command and General Staff at BAU
28 May 2019BAU President Professor Amr Galal El-Adawi welcomed a delegation from the Fouad Chehab Academy for Command and General Staff headed by the College Commander Colonel Hassan Jouni in Debbieh Campus in the presence of Dean of Faculty of Architecture-Design and Built Environment Professor Ibtihal Bastawissi, Dean of Faculty of Engineering Professor Adel Al Kurdi and academic staff members.
In his speech, Faculty of Engineering Assistant Dean Professor Yehia Tamsah said, “BAU and the Lebanese Army share a great history of communication and constructive cooperation. BAU graduates have always sought to join the ranks of the Lebanese army, which is reflected in their presence in many disciplines and high posts at the various army institutions and sectors.”
Professor Al-Kurdi pointed out that “since its establishment, BAU has always been committed to offer distinctive educational programs and provide an incubatory environment for academic creativity and development of leadership skills among its students. Therefore, it has organized joint meetings and workshops with all national institutions to ensure continuous communication and mutual benefit.”
President El-Adawi praised “the role of the Lebanese Army institution as one of the basic pillars of the country. Therefore, BAU and the Lebanese Army share a great history of communication and cooperation culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in 2014."
“Since its establishment, BAU has realized its responsibility and its role towards the community and the nation with all its institutions. Thus, it harnesseding its capabilities, technologies and laboratories for community service, believing that the role of universities is not limited to education and certification, but also contributes to the development of this society. BAU will also offer more full scholarships for the Lebanese army at the postgraduate level,” El-Adawi continued.
Colonel Jouni presented a brief description of the college as a military university that teaches senior military studies in the Lebanese army, being the highest military educational institution in the army that prepares elite senior officers for leadership positions.
Jouni also thanked BAU for this cooperation being one of the most comprehensive and profound agreements which includes mutual cooperation in different fields. “We look forward to implementing and developing this agreement for the benefit of both parties,” Jouni continued.
After a session of questions and discussions, Professor El-Adawi and Colonel Hassan Jouni exchanged honorary shields and toured the university facilities, faculties and laboratories.
