A Meeting with Dr Ghaleb Mahmasani At BAU Tripoli

The Center for Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) at BAU organized a dialogue with Dr. Ghaleb Mahmasani, President of the Beirut Stock Exchange, entitled “The Economic Situation and its Impact on the Financial Markets” at the Tripoli Branch of BAU. The event was attended by Vice-President for Tripoli Branch Affairs, Prof. Khaled Baghdadi, Director of CCPE, Dr. Wassim Itani, BAU directors, the staff-members and a large attendance by bankers and bank directors.
During the dialogue which was coordinated by the director of the Faculty of Business Administration at Tripoli Campus Dr. Hani Al Shaarany, Mahmasani spoke about the Beirut Stock Exchange, reviewing its history in confronting the financial and economic challenges faced in Lebanon. He focused on the importance of mobilizing national savings and channeling these in investments supportive of the economy, creating investment opportunities, and facilitating long-term financing of private and state companies.
Mahmassani also drew attention to the law that has provided the stock market with authorities to issue regulations for the operation of the financial market, organizing IPOs, and circulating these at the Stock Market. Mahmasani also discussed the mechanisms adopted at the Beirut Stock Exchange which keeps pace with the new laws adopted.
