Applied Statistics Day

Under the patronage of the president of Beirut Arab University Professor Amr Galal El-Adawi, the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Faculty of Science organized a workshop entitled “Applied Statistics Day” at Beirut campus. The workshop had seven scheduled speakers: six of them were guest speakers from other universities/organizations and one speaker from BAU. The speakers were Dr. Abbas Al Hakim (American University of Beirut), Dr. Wafa Aboul Hosn (ESCWA), Dr. Rami Haddad (Saint Joseph University), Dr. Souha Fares (American University of Beirut), Mr. Marwan Moghrabi (Lebano Stat), Dr. Seifedine Kadry (Beirut Arab University), and Dr. Stephano Moni (American University of Beirut). The workshop was attended by different institutions and organizations: American University of Beirut , Lebanese American University , Saint Joseph University , Lebanese University , Arab Open University , Lebanese International University , Center of Applied Statistics at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers , Ministry of Agriculture , Middle East Airlines , Najjar Hospital , MEAB Bank , and private companies . The aim of the workshop was to create a scientific environment that allows guests and speakers to network, share and discuss recent research activities in the field of applied statistics. It aimed also announcing the launching of the new Master program in Applied Statistics that will be offered by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science as of fall 2018-2019. At the end of workshop, certificates of appreciation and attendance were distributed to the guest speakers and attendees.
