BAU President Announces a New Strategy and International Accreditation

The President of Beirut Arab University, Prof. Dr. Amr Galal El Adawi, announced the new five-year Strategy (2013 - 2018) which includes: Governance, Curriculum Development, Scientific Research Enhancement, Improvement of Services and University Life for Students, Activating Community-based Developmental Research Relations, as well as Developing International Relations and Student Exchanges with Major World Universities. 

This announcement was declared in the Annual Meeting with the Academic Staff for the occasion of the beginning of the Academic Year 2013 - 2014. Prof. El Adawi reiterated the continuous efforts exerted at all faculties towards attaining international accreditation, which will be announced soon for all majors. This strategy is targeted after the attaining of the Faculty of Architectural Engineering the Accreditation from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and the Computer Science Program at The Faculty of Science - Mathematics and Computer Science Department (Debbieh Site) its accreditation by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology(ABET).

Prof. Dr. El Adawi pointed out that Academic, Scientific and the Research Progresses at the University will pave the way for the University to attain additional accreditation, which will elevate it to compete with other universities in the Arab World, and will give its graduates the chance to be joined into local, regional and international distinguished institutions.

The President of BAU emphasized the important role played by the University professors in preparing the student to be in full power on the academic, professional and psychological levels, relying on them the responsibilities upon graduation of developing their community.

With the beginning of the Academic Year 2013/2014, BAU launched the Petroleum Engineering Program to keep abreast with the Lebanese job-market needs. With this program, BAU is one of the first universities to introduce this field of specialization in its curriculum.
