BAU Students Harvest the First and the Second Prizes of the International Organic Chemistry Competition 2014
28 January 2014Complying with the High Standards of distinguished education Beirut Arab University had always provided, a new success had been accomplished by students of Beirut Arab University had won the first and the second prize of the International Organic Chemistry Competition (OC3) organized by the American University of Beirut – Chemistry Department- The Organic Chemistry Club.
The Competition which was under the Patronage of the of the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO consisted of 86 teams from local and international universities from Lebanon, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Egypt.
The competition which took place on the 28th January 2014, consisted of searching for the correct solutions to the organic chemistry equations displayed on a large screen before rushing to log in the correct answers via their clickers within the allocated time. The teams competed two students per team.
Marwa Halime and Marwa Nahouli from Beirut Arab University harvested the first Prize and received cash award of $1500 . Razan Issa and Farouk Kassem also from BAU won the second prize for the amount of $1000 whereas the Lebanese American University represented by their team Aad Saab and Shiraz Al Adam took the third place for the amount of $500.
At the end of the ceremony, certificates were distributed by Minister Diab, Darwich of UNESCO and AUB Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Patrick McGreevy.
