Beirut Arab University Wins the First Place at the National Startup Competition for North Lebanon
23 June 2018Beirut Arab University conquered the First Place for its Startup Project “Khan Beauty Box” at the National Startup Competition for North Lebanon through the Center for Entrepreneurship at BAU. The Team was consisted of : Mounira El Halabi and Farah Khaled from the Faculty of Architecture – Design and Built Environment and Dalal Shami from the Faculty of Pharmacy.
Out of 250 contestants that passed through many phases in the completion, 25 startups Projects where chosen to attend an intensive 5 days “Boot Camp” to build up the ideas thoroughly, finally selecting only 9 to move to the mentorship phase (2 months) and build a business plan, prototype and pitch in Tripoli Startup Forum.
The “Khan Beauty Box” resembled a mini-cosmetic kitchen at the house. It included the educational materials (recipe cards, app), organic ingredients, kit and tools and personalized containers all of which needed to learn, create, customize and store your own beauty and bath products that are natural, non-toxic, and zero waste.
The event was held during the 3rd Annual Conference and Exhibition for North Lebanon startups and the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Institutions. The theme for this year was “The Road towards a Startup Ecosystem” in which the aim of the forum was to drive forward the “Entrepreneurial Scene” in the city and highlight the Startup Potential through a platform for networking and knowledge sharing.
