Beirut Arab University and the Union for the Protection of Juveniles in Lebanon Signed a Cooperation Agreement to Enhance Practical Training in Child Protection

Beirut Arab University represented by its President Professor Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, has signed a two-year cooperation agreement with the Union for the Protection of Juveniles in Lebanon represented by its President Mrs. Amira Sukkar.

The agreement aims to strengthen academic and field cooperation in the field of child protection and to enhance the capabilities of students in the humanities. It seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience through training programs within Palaces of Justice and detention centers.

The signing ceremony was attended by BAU Secretary General Dr. Omar Houri, Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences Professor Siddeeka Lasheen, Dean of Graduate Studies and Research Professor Hania Nakkash, a delegation from the Union for the Protection of Juveniles in Lebanon.

Under the terms of the agreement, sociology students will receive field training within juvenile courts and preliminary investigations, while psychology students will participate in training programs inside Roumieh Prison under the supervision of licensed psychologists. Additionally, the Union will provide Law students with specialized training on the implementation of the Juvenile Protection Law (Law No. 422/2002) and legal advocacy methods.

This agreement also aims to develop students' practical skills, support research in the field of child protection, and contribute to building a more effective protection system for the most vulnerable children in Lebanon.

Both parties emphasized that this agreement represents a significant step in developing a new generation of qualified specialists in the fields of sociology, psychology, and law.
