Connecting Lebanon to Silicon Valley

Under the patronage and presence of H.E Mr. Adel Afiouni, Minister of State for Information Technology, and in collaboration with the Faculty of Science, a lecture entitled: "Connecting Lebanon to Silicon Valley", was delivered at Tripoli Campus by the Engineer Ahmed Mohaisen, Chief of Staff at Techwadi in Silicon Valley. The lecture was attended by Mr. Mokbel Malek representing H.E Najib Mikati, Member of the Lebanese parliament H.E Ali Darwish, the president of Mina Municipality Mr. Abdelkader Alameddine, Mayor of Zagharta Ms. Iman Al-Rafi'i, BAU Vice-President for Tripoli Branch Affairs Prof. Khaled Baghdady, Deputy Secretary General for Tripoli branch Affairs Mr. Mohammad Hammoud, faculty directors, a crowd of interested citizens, and students from all campus faculties.

Dr. Abdullah Chakik, Assistant professor at Faculty of Science started the lecture by emphasizing on the importance of entrepreneurship for youth, whilst keeping an eye on the development of technology advancement to make good use of, throughout their future career and life. The representative of the women's sector in the Association of Azm and Saade, Mrs. Jinan Mobayed, delivered a welcoming speech to the audience, in which she presented the biography of Mr. Ahmad Muhaisen. Further to that Prof. Khaled Baghdady, stressed on the role youth can play in developing their countries. Mr. Ahmed introduced in his lecture the activities currently running at Silicon Valley to help young people develop and fund their ideas. He also urged young people to get to know the world of entrepreneurship and to work on pioneering ideas to create successful companies. He presented as well many ideas that support the funding of start-ups. At the end of the lecture, Minister Adel Afiouni delivered a speech in which he briefed the role of the Ministry of Information Technology and its efforts to connect youth with international companies that are interested in entrepreneurship.
