The Good Old Days at BAU
25 February 2015
In the Company of the Lebanese National Orchestra conducted by the Maestro Andre Hajj and Mohamed Mohsen
Over an hour of the good old days were revived at Beirut Arab University which hosted a musical concert by the Lebanese National Orchestra conducted by the Maestro Andre Hajj, and with the participation of the Egyptian Singer Mohamed Mohsen. The singer’s warm voice took the audience across streams of melodies to the shores of serenity, where they enjoyed songs of love, courtship, longing and nostalgia.
The lyrics of Mahmoud Darwiche, Ahmed Shawky, Ahmed Fouad Negm and the Brothers Rahbani, coupled with the melodies set by Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Marcelle Khalife, and Ziad Rahbani, in addition to beautiful musical pieces composed by Dr. Walid Gholmieh, Khalil Rahmeh and Andre Hajj that were played by the skilled and professional fingers of the twenty-five Orchestra musicians. The tunes they played mingled with the sentiments of Mohamed Mohsen and the large crowd who filled the Jamal Abdel Nasser Hall.
After performing a large number of songs, BAU President thanked Maestro Andre Hajj and the National Orchestra Musicians for their beautiful performance. He also thanked Mohamed Mohsen for the wonderful evening of music, and highlighted that the concert was held partly with the aim to encourage students to develop a musical ear and an appreciation of the arts.
