The Inauguration of the “Free Medical Clinic” at Bekaa
07 October 2012With the aim of playing an important role in serving the local community in Bekaa, and seeking to improve the health and the social level, as well as the participation in awareness raising and development, the Research Center for Environment and Development and the Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University, in cooperation with Dar Al Fatwa in Bekaa, organized the “Free Medical Clinic” event, held at Al Farouk, Saad Nayel Hospital, on 7th October 2012, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The clinic was inaugurated with the attendance of his Excellence, the Mufti of Zahlé and Bekaa, Sheikh Khalil Al Maiss, Sheikh Ghanoum Nesbeen, Director of the hospital, as well as members of the hospital staff, including some nurses. The inauguration was also attended by Dr. Safaa Baidoun, Director of the Research Center for Environment and Development and a number of the team-members at the Center. Sheikh Ghanoum welcomed the team of physicians, headed by Dr. Mohamed Houri, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University expressing his appreciation of this kind initiative, in particular since Bekaa is witnessing difficult living and humanitarian conditions.
The clinics were divided as follows:
- Two pediatrics clinics
(Prof. Dr. Hala Asem, Dr. Nada Hashwa, Dr. Susan Khalil)
- Two gynecological clinics
(Dr. Ghada Moussa, Dr. Heba Gebaly, Dr. Ahmed Chokor, Dr. Diaa Salloum)
- One clinic of internal medicine
(Dr. Ali Samaha, Dr. Khaled El Agamy, Huzaifa Al Haj Ibrahim)
- One nutrition clinic
(Specialist Rana Saleh)
The medical team examined the patients, providing them with available medication. The great number of visiting patients, exceeding about 250 cases (150 children, 55 internal medicine & cardio-vascular, 55 gynecological cases), stands proof to the heavy attendance of the public.
