The Launching of the “International Tripoli Cinema Festival” at BAU in Tripoli

Beirut Arab University- Tripoli Branch hosted the launching of the “International Tripoli Cinema Festival”, entitled “Cultural Resistance”. The ceremony was attended by Vice-President for Tripoli Branch Affairs, Prof. Khaled Baghdadi, and Director of Tripoli Branch, Dr. Ahmad Sanjikdar, as well as a crowd of students and interested people.

Prof. Khaled Baghdadi inaugurated the opening with a word in which he reiterated the University mission that has sought to disseminate science, culture and knowledge in Lebanon and the world for 50 years. He thanked the organizers of the Festival for their efforts and determinacy to make the event a success despite the adverse conditions prevailing in the country.

This was followed by the screening of two movies: “When a Woman Sings”, which depicts the sufferings and achievements of Egyptian women in their battle for self-realization, and “Ok, Enough, Goodbye”, which depicts the daily life of a person from Tripoli.

The Festival continues for a week at the BAU Tripoli Branch, during which 8 films from Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand, Belgium and France will be shown. These movies were selected by the Festival jury, and will also be shown at the City Complex and the Safadi Organization.
