The Mock Trial Contest Conclusion at Beirut Arab University

The Human Rights Center at Beirut Arab University concluded the Mock Trial Contest 2012 with Ms. Nancy Attoum having won the three awards as the best legal team, the best individual speaker in the oral rounds, and the best written memorandum. The contest was organized by the Arab Academic Human Rights Network. Eight teams of students from the Faculty of Law and Political Science from Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, and Morocco participated in this contest which took place for a two consecutive days on the 22nd and the 23rd of September 2012. Each team focused on an environmental issue related to human rights to proceed to a virtual judicial process, including the preparation of legal memoranda and the formation of defense and the prosecution committees. 

The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Alekhandro Evontes and Ms. Carla Bou Kheir representing the Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights representing the legal committee supervising the contest, and Dr. Omar Houri, Director of the Human Rights Center and the Assistant Dean of Faculty of Law and Political Science at Beirut Arab University.  At the end of the ceremony, honorary shields and participation certificates were distributed to the participants.
