Our academic staff members from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Science participated in the 8th International Conference on Smart Applications, Communications and Networking (SmartNets 2026), held at Link University, Rome, Italy. The conference brought together researchers and academics from around the world to present and discuss the latest advances in smart applications, communication technologies, and networking. Our faculty members contributed two research papers: "A Neuro-Evolutionary Approach for Emotion Recognition in Textual Data", authored by Dr. May Itani and Dr. Layal Abu Daher, and "Hybrid Explainable Fake News Detection Using CNNs and Frequent Pattern Mining", co-authored by Dr. Mahmoud Skafi and Dr. Julie Bu Daher. This participation highlighted the high-quality research conducted within our department, strengthened the international academic presence of Beirut Arab University, and fostered new opportunities for research collaboration and knowledge exchange.
